Highlights of Pump and Isolation Valve Services

Our experienced mechanical engineering team recently completed a critical pump replacement project at Horsham Hospital in West Sussex.

We began by safely isolating the electrical and water supplies connected to the faulty pump. Thankfully, the existing isolation valves worked perfectly, avoiding the need for pipe freezing.

Next, our engineers drained the system by releasing water into the on-site foul drainage point. Once drained, we disconnected all electrical and mechanical links to the old pump.

Safe and Efficient Pump Removal Services

With all connections removed, we extracted the old pump and prepared the system for new components. We assessed the surrounding pipework and identified the need for adaptations to suit updated fittings.

We modified the pipe layout to install new isolation valves, flexible bellows, and a non-return valve. These changes enhanced system performance, ensured easier maintenance, and aligned with hospital standards.

Installation of the Pump and Pressure Checking

We installed a 125/100mm Fixed Speed Direct Drive Pump, checking all alignments for accuracy and stability. Once secured, we slowly opened the water isolation valve to refill the pump and surrounding pipework.

Throughout the process, we closely monitored for leaks. We confirmed a fully sealed system before restoring power to the pump.

Electrical Reconnection and Commissioning

Our qualified electricians reconnected the system in line with IEE regulations and hospital safety procedures. We then powered up the pump and ran a full commissioning sequence.

We recorded flow rates, pressure, and vibration levels to verify compliance with manufacturer and hospital requirements. Air was bled from the system to optimise hydraulic performance.

Final Checks and Client Handover

We inspected all supporting components to confirm correct installation and compatibility. Throughout the project, we coordinated with hospital staff to minimise disruption.

All work was completed on time and in full compliance with operational and safety guidelines. Once finished, we cleaned the area and responsibly disposed of all waste.

We handed over full commissioning data, user manuals, and maintenance instructions. Our team also provided post-installation support to address any further questions.

The result? A high-performance pump system ready to serve the hospital reliably. The client was pleased, and services continued without interruption.
