Replacement Isolation Valves Using Pipe Freezing
IDWe Ltd carried out essential pipe freezing works at the U.S. Embassy in Central London. The Embassy required complete continuity of service, so all work took place over a weekend.
We ensured no disruption to operations while replacing vital heating system components. Our engineers used liquid nitrogen pipe freezing to isolate the pipework safely and without draining the system.
We worked within strict access protocols and timeframes. The team followed all embassy-specific procedures, from access control to site safety measures.
Technical Breakdown
We applied nitrogen freezing to two heating circuits:
- 10-inch heating flow and return pipework
- 6-inch heating flow and return pipework
- With the system frozen, we then:
- Removed and replaced existing isolation valves
- Installed customer-supplied bellows
- Welded new flanges directly to pipework on-site
- Pressure tested the entire system
- Reinstated flow without disruption
All work took place under tight time constraints. The system was back online before normal operations resumed on Monday morning.
