The freeze plug allows the engineers to carry out industrial pipe maintenance safely and efficiently. Pipe Freezing Services
Our engineers were required at Edible Oils in Erith, on behalf of A.D.M Erith Limited. To carry out a Pipe Freeze on a 3-inch fire hydrant main for the onsite contractor to carry out maintenance works.
The Brief
The client required our services for liquid nitrogen pipe freezing because they were unsure where to isolate the system to carry out maintenance work.
Assessment & Setup
Our engineers identified the safest spot for freezing and applied a freeze jacket.
Execution
IDWe Ltd’s experienced engineers attended the site during normal working hours and attached a freeze jacket to the 3-inch pipe where it was best to isolate the system. Next poured in liquid nitrogen into the jacket to stop the water flow and allow for the freeze plug to form. Then, once the freeze took hold, others were able to complete the work.
Completion
After the works were completed, we safely thawed the pipe and ensured everything was leak-free. All equipment and materials were responsibly disposed of at a licensed refuse / recycling facility.
