Hot Tapping Valve Installation

To facilitate a Hot Tapping Valve Installation, Hot Taps or Hot Tapping Services is the process of safely connecting a valve to a pressurised pipework system by drilling or cutting into the pipework while it remains operational and under pressure.

Hot Tapping Services

What is a Hot Tap Valve?

A Hot Tap Valve is a critical component used in Hot Tapping Services, a specialised pipework method that enables pipeline connections without the need for shutting down the system or releasing gas into the atmosphere. Also known as Line Tapping, Pressure Tapping, Pressure Cutting, or Side Cutting, this method allows for safe and efficient modifications to pressurised systems.

What is the Purpose of Hot Tapping?

The primary purpose is to create new pipeline connections while the existing pipeline remains in operation, with natural gas or other fluids flowing under pressure.

What are the advantages of Hot Tapping Services?

This alternative method minimises downtime, reduces costs, and enhances safety by avoiding the need for complete system shutdowns.

As London’s leading Hot Tapping Company, we performed a Hot Tap Valve Installation, please read our case study below:

The brief

Hot Tap LTHW Installation

Expert On-Site Hot Tapping Services by Our Experienced Engineers

Our team of experienced engineers conducted Hot Tapping operations during standard working hours and ensured minimal disruption for the client. The process begins with isolating localised smoke detection systems to safely conduct the work.

We then removed the existing insulation from the LTHW pipework and adapted the 65mm section of pipe to fit seamlessly with the 150mm pipework. This adapted section is TIG welded to the 150mm pipe, along with a flange plate. A 65mm gate valve was then supplied and installed onto the flanged socket.

Next, we mount the drilling rig onto the LTHW pipework to create a 65mm aperture. Once the aperture is formed, we remove the drilling rig and the cut-out section of the pipe. The valve is then closed, and a blank plate is installed onto the flanged valve for future use. Finally, we painted around the new hot tap and reinstall insulation around the pipework to complete the process.

Lastly, clear the site of all redundant items upon completion of our work and dispose of at a licensed refuse/recycling facility.

Result

Our comprehensive Hot Tapping Services ensure precise, safe, and efficient pipeline modifications without the need for system shutdowns.

Lastly, there was minimal disruption to services for SOAS during the Valve Fitting Services. As a result, operations continued as usual, leading to significant time and cost savings.
