Three Liquid Nitrogen Pipe Freezes
We carried out chilled water pipework alterations in Newbury outside normal hours to prevent disruption to building operations. Our professional engineers mobilised quickly and applied three Pipe Freezes on different pipe sizes. These included two pipe freezes on 2 ½” chilled pipework and one pipe freeze on 28mm chilled pipework.
By using Pipe Freezing jackets and liquid nitrogen, our expert team formed secure ice plugs to stop the flow. This allowed the safe removal and alteration of pipework without draining down the entire system.
Our Experienced Engineers Completed the Following Tasks
- Attended the site outside working hours to complete the works
- Accessed pipework using mobile scaffold and step ladders
- Applied 2 No. Pipe Freezes on 2 ½” chilled pipework and 1 No. Pipe Freeze on 28mm chilled pipework
- Disconnected the 28mm pressure differential bypass
- Drained residual water into foul drains
- Removed approximately 3m of 2 ½” pipework and loop end
- Cut existing pipework to allow new loop installation
- Used Viega Mega Press couplings and elbows to replicate the end loop in the agreed location
- Recreated the 28mm bypass previously removed
- Allowed Pipe Freezes to thaw and carefully checked for leaks
- Cleared site of redundant items and disposed of them responsibly
